Congratulations to all our swimmers on a superb Club Championships!
The new format appeared to go down well, with our younger swimmers getting a taste of an all day meet. We hope you all had an enjoyable day.
73 swimmers competed in 344 individual races, with the majority swimming PBs. Ethan Lecuyer swam the most events – 10 in all, with 7 PBs; Matty Smith swam 9 events and all were PBs!
Many winter county qualifying times were improved, with new times achieved by Holly Brockwell (100 free & 100 back), Emily Carman (50 breast), Issy Charnock (200 IM & 200 fly), Ed Clark (100 fly), Edward Condron (200 back), Abi Pendleton (200 fly), Becky Smith (100 fly) and Matty Smith (100 fly, 100 breast & 200 fly).
Our Pre-pool exercisies were led by Club Captains Tom Clark and Abby Smith in the morning. In the afternoon Tegan Prior & Ella Thornburg ably led the Cha-Cha Slide and topped this off with a few key pre-pool exercises.
It was certainly a hot day – our picnic lunch ended up on one long strip of shade! Gazebos next year maybe!
Thank you as always to our many, many helpers without whom events like this cannot take place.
We are always on the lookout for more and this is a great way to give back to your Club and support your child in their swimming:
- If you fancy training to be an official (timekeeper/judge) or a team manager please go and speak to our Chairman Tim Thornburg or anyone at the help desk.
- If you’d like to help with the children at training sessions please come and see Sue to arrange some taster sessions. We offer Swim England qualifications for those who can commit to regular training sessions. No previous experience is needed for any of these roles.
- If you have some IT knowledge and would like to learn how to run our timing system please speak with Tim Thornburg.
- There are plenty of other jobs around the Club that need doing, so please come to the Help Desk if you think you can offer some help, however small – as they say, many hands make light work!
