Over 50 Littlehampton swimmers competed in our home open meet and major fundraiser.

This was a very long and busy day, especially for those who swam in all three sessions (and for those running the meet!). Nearly everyone swam PBs; 13 year old Matty Smith swam a superb 200m breaststroke to gain his automatic regional qualifying time in 3:01.25. 12 year old Erin Humphries achieved her first ever county time in the 50m breaststroke in a time of 43.58s. I made notes on all of the swimmers performances. I could see improvement in technique; starts were better and streamlining generally looked good. The main area many swimmers could improve is their turns, something that needs to be practised every time they swim and not just on a specific turns practice! A good turn can make a huge difference to your time and can mean the difference between winning and losing.

Well done to everyone who swam! Thank you to our many, many helpers.
