Saturday evening saw a team of 34 represent Littlehampton in our final National Arena League gala of the season – and what a great finish! It was our 3rd home gala too – the first time this has ever happened to us! We hosted the first and last gala, and ran the AOE at the second. So a massive thank you to all our wonderful dedicated helpers.

There were some stunning performances despite several swimmers feeling under the weather. We wish Ollie Harvey well who missed the gala having spent the evening before in hospital.

Becky Smith was the breaststroke queen, winning her own age group and coming 2nd in the 15/u age group and setting a new PB! Becky was one of our poorly swimmers!

I bet Max Williams will be surprised to learn he achieved his 100 back county time with a massive 19 second PB!

Will Le Merle achieved PBs in both his individual events, as did Rachel Houlgate.

Erin Humphries stepped up two age groups to swim the open 100 breast with a 3 second PB!

Ethan Lecuyer swam his first ever competitive 100 fly race!

There were further PBs from Holly Brockwell, Ed Condron, Tom Hogg, Ashton Netherwood, Tegan Prior, Emily Pryke and Matty Smith.

Some great relay splits too across the board.

All in all, superb team work – well done to everyone! Not forgetting those who turned up to support the team – Tom Clark and reserve swimmer Daniel Houlgate. Lovely to have back Will Jagger and Lewis Smart too.

This means we have finished 4th overall in Division 2 West out of 18 teams, just one place off promotion. A great result.
