4 major summer meets saw 10 of our swimmers in action, with 3 selected for National Talent Programmes!
British Summer Championships
The fastest British swimmers are invited to the British Summer Championships and four Littlehampton swimmers received invites this year!
16yr old Ella swam a great PB & Club record of 28.93 in her 50 fly, finishing 9th in the final. Ella also finished 15th in the 100 fly.
Joe had a very busy week having been invited for all 5 eligible events as an S14 swimmer. He swam PBs and made finals in every one of his events! Joe finished 4th in the 200 free & 200 IM, 5th in the 100 fly, 7th in the 100 back and 8th in the 100 breast. As a result Joe has now been selected for the Swim England Para Talent Programme!
14yr old Katie swam a superb PB in her 100 fly to finish 15th. She came 17th in the 50 fly.
Lewis, an S9, SB8, SM8 swimmer, had 4 events making finals in both the 100 back, 100 free & 50 free finishing 9th in all three. Every swim was a PB!
Swim England Summer National Meet
The next top swimmers in England are then invited to compete in the Swim England Summer National Meet and again we had four swimmers!
Leo made the final of the 50 free, swimming the final in a new 15yr boys long course club record of 25.65, finishing in 8th place.
Katie came 11th in the 100 free and won an amazing Gold in the 50 free, in a new 14yr girls long course club record of 27.91! Just 2/100ths separated 1st & 2nd place – but it was Katie who nailed her finish to claim Gold! Katie has been selected for the Swim England National Age Group Development Programme!
Ella swam a very brave race in the 200 fly, leading from the front in her heat – the best start I’ve ever seen from Ella and the best in her heat! Her overall placing was 16th.
Lewis topped the week with Gold in both the 100 breast and 400 free MC events, both with large PBs – two very exciting races, all coming down to the highest British disability points score! Lewis also finished 6th in the 100 fly. Lewis has been selected for the Swim England National Youth Development Programme!
Swim Scotland Summer National Meet
In the same way as England, the fastest Scottish swimmers are invited to the Swim Scotland national meet. Both Cian & Darragh received invites! Darragh made the final in both the 50 free and 50 breast, finishing 9th & 10th respectively. Cian swam the 200 and 50 breast finals, finishing 9th in both. Cian swam PBs in all three of his events and set a new 15yr boys club record in the 50 breast of 34.13!
Swim Wales Summer National Meet
The Smith family went along to the Swim Wales Summer National Meet, which is part open meet. Matty, Becky and Sammy all had a fantastic week, making finals and swimming PBs! Becky came out top with a Bronze medal in the 400 IM, Silver in the 100 breast and Gold in the 200 breast !!!
