A successful first weekend at the Regional Age Group Championships saw Ella Thornburg, Ella Napier and Becky Smith all compete.
Matty Smith unfortunately missed the competition – but he was at a National Water Polo selection camp and is down to the last 24 so we forgave him! Well done Matty, we hear it went really well so fingers crossed that you’ve progressed to the next stage!
So to this weekends competition where warm up was extremely busy. There were at least 25 swimmers in every lane, we counted 30 in one!!
Ella T started the weekend off with a good PB in her 200 IM.
The 200 fly saw both Ella’s swim, Ella N with a massive 13 second long course PB, having last swum this LC at the counties in February!
All three swam in the 50 breast – a very busy event with 112 competitors across all the age groups! They were all just off their PBs, as were a lot of swimmers at the meet. As we know a 50m race is very unforgiving – you’ve only got to get something slightly wrong with your start or breakout, or indeed with your stroke timing into the finish, and it can mean the difference between finishing first or last!
Ella T swam herself into the 100 fly final where she finished 5th with a great 1.5 second PB in a time of 1:12.11. A fantastic result!
Lovely swimming from you all and superb to have qualified for this high level regional competition! Well done!
